Top Ten Tuesday (4): Top Ten Series I Haven't Finished

**Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and Bookish.**

This week I am talking about series I have not finished or have fell behind in, either because I didn't love them or because I just... got distracted. Hey, it happens! I am the queen of procrastination and sometimes it spills into my reading. :P

THE MAZE RUNNER SERIES BY JAMES DASHNER

Read: The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials
Need to Read: The Death Cure, The Kill Order (The Maze Runner Prequel)

*Not sure why I am behind. I really do plan on continuing on with the books at some point. So crazy and different, but they totally grabbed my attention.

PARANORMALCY SERIES BY KIERSTEN WHITE

Read: Paranormalcy
Not Read: Supernaturally, Endlessly

*I thought the first book was cute and fun, just haven't made the effort for the rest of the series yet.

DARKEST POWERS TRILOGY BY KELLEY ARMSTRONG

Read: The Summoning, The Awakening
Not Read: The Reckoning

*I thought the first 2 books were good enough but I didn't love them. When I read these, the library didn't carry the last book yet, which is why I didn't finish at the time. I am curious to how it ends but fear this series may remain incomplete for me.

CASTER CHRONICLES BY KAMI GARCIA AND MARGARET STOHL

Read: Beautiful Creatures
Not Read: Beautiful Darkness, Beautiful Chaos, Beautiful Redemption(Out 10/23/12)

*I am soooo behind in this series. I read the first book while I was in a slump and it took me a month to finish. I really liked it, but it was bad timing, so I remain behind. I hope to read them all before the movie comes out though!

GRACELING REALM BY KRISTIN CASHORE

Read: Graceling, Fire
Not Read: Bitterblue

*LOVE these books, especially Graceling. I've been so excited to read Bitterblue and get more of Katsa, Po and of course see Bitterblue all grown up. I think I have put it off purely because the length intimidates me. Which I guess is a silly reason. lol

IMMORTAL BELOVED SERIES BY CATE TIERNAN

Read: Immortal Beloved
Not Read: Darkness Falls, Eternally Yours(Out 11/6/12)

*I liked the first book alright but I had a lot of issues with it too. Not sure I will be picking up the rest of the series.

HUSH, HUSH SERIES BY BECCA FITZPATRICK

Read: Hush, Hush, Crescendo
Not Read: Silence, Finale(Out 10/23/12)

*I know this is a love them or hate them series for a lot of people but I side on the LOVE THEM! I first started this series when the Hush, Hush cover popped out at me while I was buying The Hunger Games way back when. It started my love for the angel genre! I don't know how I got behind, but I am definitely tackling the last 2 books back to back when Finale is released next month!

THE BODY FINDER SERIES BY KIMBERLY DERTING

Read: The Body Finder, Desires of the Dead
Not Read: The Last Echo, Dead Silence(Out 4/16/13)

*It really hasn't been that long since The Last Echo was released, but after a few months if I haven't picked up the latest in a series, I almost feel like I might as well wait until the next one, right?

LUMATERE CHRONICLES BY MELINA MARCHETTA

Read: Finnikin of the Rock
Not Read: Froi of the Exiles, Quintana of Charyn(Out 9/26/12-in Australia at least)

*I read Finnikin of the Rock in early summer and I fell in love with the characters. I think again my only hesitation to continue has been the length of the novels combined with some of the confusion I had from the world building. I have that problem occasionally with the fantasy genre. Hopefully it will be better for me with the remainder of the series.

Think I will leave the list at 9 for now. I really hope by this time next year I will have finished the ones I plan on finishing. And hopefully not too many series will have been added to the list. Any series you have abandoned or fell behind in? Leave a link if you got one!

  1. Bitterblue was fantastic! (Although Graceling is still my favorite.) I remember zipping through Bitterblue, though, so if I remember correctly this is probably a case where the book is fat, but the text is a decent size with large margins and all that. So slightly misleading.

  2. I'm in the same place in the Paranormalcy series as you. Need to finish that one as some point...
I would really like to start the Graceling series at some point, I just need to catch up on all my other series first..LOL

    1. I know what you mean. Sometimes you really want to start a new series but then you look at all the ones you are already in the middle of... lol

  3. Oh man, your list made me realize how many series I haven't finished that I didn't put on my list. I rarely read past the first book just so I can get a good feel for a variety of authors and styles. But occasionally I can't stop myself from moving on. I will finish the Graceling series and may read the next books in the Finnikin of the Rock series. But then there are so many new series demanding my attention.

    1. I am so curious to how it ends. I feel like the first 2 were setting it up in a way that I would really like the last book. We'll see. At this point it has been so long I don't really remember much. :(

Great list - thanks for sharing!

  16. I love this topic.
Some series I love. But sometimes a book just doesn't need to be a series. Sometimes it just gets stretched out into one and then I feel annoyed.

    1. I totally agreed. And sometimes 3 is enough. Dragging it on past that doesn't always work. Except for Harry Potter, of course. :)

  17. Bitterblue was soo amazing that even though it was a little daunting to see the length of the book at first, I found myself wishing it were longer as I speed through it, loving every moment! Trust me, you will not be disappointed in this one, especially if you liked the fist two books. Honestly, Bitterblue was my favorite of the three.

  18. Great list! We have a lot of the same books, and you have some on here that I did finish! The Darkest Powers were okay, but I didn't love them. I love The Body Finder books--it's got death, but it isn't very dark, which I like. I recently finished Paranormalcy after stopping it, and while Evie's voice is great, I didn't love the book. I thought Beautiful Creatures was okay, but I want to read both series. And you must read Hush, Hush! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yeah they definitely aren't for everyone. Most of my friends who have read the Hush, Hush books don't really care for them either. I do though! lol :)
